Pre and Post Op Care Tips
In order to promote proper healing, it is vital that you follow some pre and post op care instructions. Depending on your operation, you may be required to undergo different treatments, but the following are general rules that will apply to all of our procedures unless otherwise stated by Dr. Donn R Jacobs at the time of your check-up.
Handling discomfort
Before and after your operation you may find that your teeth are uncomfortable. The best way to handle this is by taking Advil 600mg every 6 hours or Tylenol 500mg every 6 hours for the next 24 / 48 hours. While most dental surgeries do not carry dietary restrictions, it is important to not drink, or otherwise consume, alcohol while on these drugs or to alleviate the pain.
Pre-op care
- Eat a full meal
- Take Advil or Aleve if able
- Take other medications as advised
Post-op care
- Schedule your sealing
- Take care in the foods you eat
- Schedule a follow-up exam
